About Me

Me with my favorite book ❤

HI! Thanks for visiting. I’m Kim. I’m 24 and happily residing in Melbourne, Australia. I have one younger sister, and one black and white cat called Pongo. (Named after a dog from 101 Dalmatians)

My heritage is Norwegian on my mum’s side, and Dutch/English on my fathers. Apart from English, I speak Indonesian as I do volunteer work in the Indonesian community here in Melbourne

I work as a Secretary & English Language tutor.

I’m a bit of an introvert. Now don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy company and time with friends… but when I’m tired or need to re-energize, I like to do this in a quiet peaceful place.. which often involves a historical/ period book in one hand… or a remote control (so I can watch it on my TV)… and a cup of tea in the other hand. We all have our little ‘escapisms’ as they call it… well, period drama is mine! Goodbye stress… hello Mr. Darcy, or Rochester, or Wentworth… you get the idea!

Since I can remember, I have looooved books.

As I grew older I discovered the ‘Classics’. Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Thomas Hardy, George Elliot, Agatha Christie, Georgette Heyer…etc….etc…(the list goes on and on)

Then as life got busier, and I didn’t have enough time (pretty much during my last few years of high school) to keep up with my reading, I discovered the film adaptions of many of my favourite stories thanks to the BBC and other film companies.

So this slice of the net is dedicated to my love of period/historical stories & writings… novels, poetry, film… and also my love for that era. Underlying this is my quest for decent entertainment. As you no doubt can see for yourself, it is becoming harder & harder to find movies or books without swearing or explicit content. Entertainment that reflects good morals & values, as well as characters that live by principles – can still be found in period writings. So I’m blogging about something I love !

I’m also using my blog to hopefully make a modest income so I can go to Indonesia to further my volunteer work there…. and also because I enjoy blogging… and I love Mr. Darcy! 😊
